Grade 5
Welcome to a new year. Grade 5 has gotten off to a great start. Students are learning about the Spanish speaking world,and we are mastering the Spanish alphabet and learning about the differences from Spanish to English.  The children are using for the first time a new text-COMO TE VA -an introduction to Middle School Spanish.  Shortly all students will be working on a project for Hispanic Heritage month, (Famous Latinos).  


GRADE  6
At this time the students in grade 6  are  reviewing numbers to 100 and proceeding on to 200.  Large numbers are frequently used in Hispanic currency and the students were able to figure out how many pesetas or pesos  an item costs.  With the introduction of the new Text- COMO TE VA- GLENCOE SERIES, students will be exposed to new vocabulary as well as readings and grammar in the target language.We will also be  working on the Family unit. 6A and 6B  will be comprising a booklet of their families in Spanish for a unit project.




Grade 7

 Subjects, telling time, sequencing events, expanding cultural awareness, possession, describing people and things, adjective agreement, tag questions,  and family are some of the topics being covered this year.  We have   just  completed the   "School" unit whereby students have learned school  vocabulary .  They have learned  how to describe in detail a  typical school day, schedules in the USA as well as those in Latin America.


Grade 8:

A review of all previously-taught material, in-depth study of many of the Hispanic countries, telephone protocol, stem-changing verbs, places and events, making plans, reflexive verbs, meals, polite requests, higher numbers, expressing preferences, expenses  are some of the topics covered this year.     .    At present we are  studying  a unit on "La Salud"-   HEALTH.  We will be exploring shortly more advanced grammar  . We have finished our unit on Sports. Students are having fun describing aches and pains .
