September
Welcome to the 2008-2009 school year! I cannot wait to start the new year and to show the new Pre-K students how much fun coming to school and learning new things can be. Our theme for the first week of school is "Circus". So, "Come and Join the Pre-K Fun!"
This year the Pre-K children will participate in all sorts of wonderful activities to help their cognitive, social, physical, language, and emotional development. We will be using primarily the Houghton-Mifflin Pre-K Curriculum with supplementation from the High Reach Curriculum.
In September the students will adjust to a new classroom, new friends, and a new teacher. They will learn how to use the materials in our classroom learning labs including the blocks center, reading center and writing center, table toys center, dramatic play center, and science and sensory center. At work time each day they will practice independence and learn how to use school supplies with help from their tool boxes (pencil cases). The students will also take their first trips to gym, art, and computers.
Much of September will be spent getting to know one another and learning the classroom routine and rules. Starting Pre-K is the first wonderful step for the children and I am excited to be part of it.
If at any time you have any questions or concerns I am happy to be of assistance. Please feel free to contact me through e-mail (kfurlong@rl.craig.org) by phone (201-641-5833- school main office) or set up an appointment in person or through writing.
I wish each family a wonderful start to the school year!
Sincerely,
Miss Furlong
