December
December is here and we have begun our new curriculum unit, "Seasons All Around". Throughout the month we will be studying the four seasons, clothing to wear in each season, and winter holidays. The children are certaintly getting excited for the winter holidays and our holiday show which will take place on December 23rd. The preschool will perform, "Santa Claus is Coming to Town".
Some activities that will be of interest this month include our four seasons fair. The children will have a chance to visit one table for each season and will try an activity related to that season. The children will also enjoy four seasons show and tell and four seasons sorting. The children wll make four seasons wheels to help practice naming the seasons in school and at home too!
Thi smonth the curriculum introduces letters X, U, and W. We will tie letters U and W into our learning by having an Umbrella Day related to spring and making some special winter projects including winter snow globes.
This month the children will get a chance in particular to enjoy the sights and sounds of the witner holidays too. We will work with the theme "A Hands-On Holiday" and make a variety of holiday projects using handprints including reindeer, santas, menorahs, elves, candy canes, and wreaths. Be sure to come down during the holiday show to see some of our work on display!
Thank you for participating in our class read at home program. So far many students have turned in their bookmarks and have earned prizes for reading. It is excellent!
Have a great month and a wonderful holiday season!
