Kindergarten students are really excited about participating in the Readers Workshop.  They love to read picture books and do a great job at retelling the story.  Students have mastered the following sounds: c-a-t- and d.  They are doing a great job at spelling and making words with these letters.  They were amazed when they realized that blending these sounds together made real words.  They have also been working on their sight words and can recognize quite a few already.
In math, students are working on numbers from 0-5.  At the end of this chapter students will be able to use numbers to describe how many objects are in a set, and will be able to write and order numbers from 0-5.

Kindergarten is such a busy year and the skills students learn are amazing.  It is important that they receive daily reinforcement in all the areas of develolpment- we practice tracking, matching and classifying objects, identifying opposites, visual discrimination, sequencing and a variety of other skills to help students succeed in school.
