We are beginning a new unit in math that will be concentrating on displaying information.  The children will be learning how to make many different types of graphs.  Also, they will be learning about stem and leaf plots, line plots, and organized lists.  We will be working with all different types of pattterns and learning about congruent and similar shapes.
     In language arts, we will be writing stories that begin with a picture prompt. The students will work on a new composition every week. They will be learning how to improve their writing by using visual words, sentence linking, similes, and metaphors.  They will be writing comparisions and essays requiring supports. When your child is working on a writing assignment at home I encourage you to help them edit their work. The writing process can improve greatly if a child is guided during that process on a one-one basis.  Of course, I encourage students to come in for tutoring at any time, especially to work on the writing process.      
     In science, we will begin a unit on the planets, stars, and universe.
